I laughed when I saw this cartoon because it is
so relevant to our life.
I've noticed since we began homeschooling that there is a definite majority of the homeschool population that are strictly no television, no junk food households...and goddess knows what else is forbidden and restricted. They're trying to live the
perfect, healthy and natural life amd raise some brainiac kid (who will turn into a pretentious adult with no social skills). That's great for them but these people tend to make me feel uncomfortable. I wouldn't say I feel intimidated but I definitely feel that I could never measure up to their standards and neither would my kids.
Not that it matter, since we're all perfectly happy with our happy little lives filled with simpler standards to measure up to, even if some things that happen in our house wouldn't be acceptable to some.
In our house, we limit TV...we limit junkfood...we eat a nice ,healthy balanced diet (that chocolate is part of)...we buy white bread from the store sometimes instead of baking "organic whole grain" and sometimes we might sleep in until 8:30...and then sit around in our pajamas and do nothing.
My 5 year old daughter is in love with Batman and she can show you the correct way to punch someone so that you won't break your thumb. My 9 year old sighs and swoons over Clark Kent in teenage form on
Smallville and of course,Harry Potter. They're normal kids. I kind of like them that way :)
